So changes at work that I'm not really sure if I'm happy about. The change itself is good, but b/c it's affecting my whole department, the grand nature of the change seems not so exciting. Am also concerned about the implications for HR. My previous experience with HR-related policies has been exceedingly bad, so while I'm going into the transition with an open mind, I approach the logistics with a heavy heart and a critical eye. Have been considering my other options quite a lot more recently but will see what the actual changes are in the near future.

So, I finished the book 'Nice Girls Don't Get The Corner Office,' which had been suggested to me by a former coworker. It was a quick read (would have been quicker had I been a better and more consistent reader). Basically has sections about ways that women speak, act and dress that limit their progress in the working world. A lot of it was a bit irrelevant-- the books seems like it was written for members of the Baby Boom generation-- but helpful nonetheless. I think being at Google has been helpful in that some of the items are things that I have done at previous jobs but that I find myself doing less of in my current job-- things like keeping ideas to myself, etc. So it means that I'm experiencing some growth, although it's good to be aware of it so that I don't take the personal/professional changes for granted and so that I continue to develop them as I go on.

Nothing much to report. Have again managed not to go to the library this past weekend so continue to put it on my to-do list.
Am about halfway done with 'Nice Girls Don't Get the Corner Office'-- nothing mind blowing but I think it has to do with it being directed fundamentally at a different audience. But I do think it is reiterating things that I know, especially that I know about myself in the context of work. So has been good.
Plodding on. Work has been good and hope to have 2-3 solid projects under by belt by the end of the quarter. Also, MBA class has been somewhat challenging as my math skills are pretty bad. Am getting the basics but feel frustrated that I cannot truly understand some content of the class.
Thinking that I probably will not be going to bschool in the fall, am reconsidering work and am thinking about upcoming deadlines, goals etc with regard to career. Saw a therapist on Monday to chat about some work thoughts that have been occupying my mind and it was pretty helpful b/c she supported some ideas that I'd felt guilty about having.

So I just heard from Taproot Foundation that my ill-developed skills are not needed at this time. Which is weird because I applied to be a copywriter (in response to an ad they'd posted) and sent in writing samples from publications. Not really sure what went wrong there and I'm in the mindset that "beggars can't be choosers." But I guess that's that. Will have to focus on other opportunities I guess.
