Nothing much to report. Have again managed not to go to the library this past weekend so continue to put it on my to-do list.

Am about halfway done with 'Nice Girls Don't Get the Corner Office'-- nothing mind blowing but I think it has to do with it being directed fundamentally at a different audience. But I do think it is reiterating things that I know, especially that I know about myself in the context of work. So has been good.

Plodding on. Work has been good and hope to have 2-3 solid projects under by belt by the end of the quarter. Also, MBA class has been somewhat challenging as my math skills are pretty bad. Am getting the basics but feel frustrated that I cannot truly understand some content of the class.

Thinking that I probably will not be going to bschool in the fall, am reconsidering work and am thinking about upcoming deadlines, goals etc with regard to career. Saw a therapist on Monday to chat about some work thoughts that have been occupying my mind and it was pretty helpful b/c she supported some ideas that I'd felt guilty about having.

Still haven't gone to library so that's on my list to do this weekend.

MBA class is going well-- v interesting and I like it. Although this past week's readings have been very math focused. Wondering if I should retake Statistics and also how this would impact my vacation plans.

I just found out that I can see a Career Management specialist for free through my work's benefits program. I need to sort some other stuff out but I think that I will make use of this resource in the near future.

So I just heard from Taproot Foundation that my ill-developed skills are not needed at this time. Which is weird because I applied to be a copywriter (in response to an ad they'd posted) and sent in writing samples from publications. Not really sure what went wrong there and I'm in the mindset that "beggars can't be choosers." But I guess that's that. Will have to focus on other opportunities I guess.

Back some months, my team at work took personality tests to make us more aware of how we are and how we function at work. My results indicated that I have streaks of perfectionism within my nature. The test indicated that I am very focused on the quality of products, almost to a fault, and I freely admit that between releasing a flawed product and no product at all, I much prefer the latter and attempt to avoid at all costs the former.

I agreed with this assessment and in considering my performance in professional settings, I have always prided myself on being the "hole poker"-- the one that points out the flaws in process or design in the hopes that my "input" is a benefit to the overall outcome.

However, following some slightly negative reviews and with deeper consideration of the true benefits of these actions, I realize that I'm really just being lazy and fatalistic. I'm basically a personification of the idea "if you're not part of the solution, you're part of the problem." I'm realizing that in immediate tasks, I should continue to analyze the benefits/flaws of my actions and products. But that when I find flaws, I should be more proactive in finding/suggesting solutions.

I think this relates to life too-- and thus this change in attitude complements some of the things that I'm trying to take-on/accomplish in my life. I think that my work progress thus far has been mediocre; however, I think that I could have been and that I should be looking into extracurricular tasks/projects/activities to buttress my experiences and professional skills.

I'm happy to have made this revelation and I'm hopeful that this will guide me as I try to make much-needed changes in my life.

On my radar:
- volunteer copywriting/consultation for Taproot
- taking statistics class at De Anza in order to remedy poor grade in college (Spring '08?)
- look into doing more freelance writing (Nilou story? cooking classes?)

To do:
- submit writing samples to Taproot (scan and send)
- go to library (Saturday?) to look up contact info for possible freelance publications
